July 21, 1999

The Seacoast; Jaffa and the market; Tel Aviv city; Eretz Israel Museum. Overnight in Tel Aviv.

Aaron Trilling reported on the day

This morning we had a wonderful breakfast such as eggs, pancakes, tuna salad greek salad, omelettes and bagels. It was great. After we had breakfast., We got on our tour bus and headed to Jaffa where our guide Walter gave us a big history lesson on who lived there to the north and the south. The land was inhabited by the Phoenicians, Philistines and the Jews. He also told us that the Jews were not interested in the sea and they weren't successful as sailors. Next we walked through the flea market.

Then we got on the bus and headed to the museum called "Eretz Israel." There we saw beautiful ancient artwork. We also saw an Israelite house, which was very interesting.

After we walked through some of the museums, we went to a little restaurant where they served felafels.
felafels frying in lots of oil
They were pretty good. After lunch we went on the bus and drove back to the hotel. When we got back some of us went swimming in the Mediterranean sea. It was a fun and exciting day.

Some additional thoughts

What different sounds do I hear?
I kept on hearing the horns of the traffic constantly.

What new thing did I try today?
I tried something new today, it was called a falafel.
