Karalee Conover reported on the day

At breakfast there were all kinds of goodies to eat: cornbread, panckes, eggs, rolls, fruit, judice, figs, oriental eggs [shakshukah], hot cocoa, and other veverages. I had to eat pancakes , cornbread and eggs. It was great!

After breakfast we got onto the bus and learned the root of the day: chet bet resh. We also learned a couple of wrods using that root. Some examples are: lÕchaver - to joine one to another; chuvra - come together. Those I thougth were pretty interesting. After root of the day I heard walter say "next stop Second Temple model at the Holy Land Hotel!"

As soon as we got theere we started around the modelWalter talked about the man who made the model. His name was Hayim. Walter said it took him about six yars to make the model. After that Walter started talking about what the model showed and who lived there. Here are three facts I learned: 1) the original city wall of Jerusalem was broken by King Herod to build three towers; 2) the "City of David" [the Ophel] is the oldest city in Jerusalem; 3) Hezekiah's tunnel brought water from outside town to inside town. I think Hezekiah's tunnel is fascinating! After a while Walter gave everyone a stone taht Haim used on the model. Now it think it is a lucky stone because it is so very soft. Everyone liked them also.

We all stopped at the gift store and bought something. I was looking for post cards to send to my sister Jenni.

After lunch we went to a tree planting place where everyone planted a little start of a pine tree or cypress. Planting trees is a program run by the KKL [JNF]. It is to make brown rocky mountains into green lush forests. A lot of pictures were taken. It was fun to dig a hole with a hoe.

After that wonderful time at the tree palnting place we went to the holcaust museum. There we saw an adults memorial and a children's memorial. I liked the children's memorial because it had four candles lit and a whole bunch of mirrors. The effect made the whole room look like it had stars in it . It was great. Everyone had a stone to put on the memorial.

After the holocaust museum w ewent back to the hotel were at 7:00 there was a kids night out. It was great, but... shh, it is a secret what we did.

Everyone went back to the hotel and that ended a wonderful day.
