This is an airial view from the north. The Snake Path goes up the east slope (on the left) and the Roman ramp is visible along the west slope. At some later time we'll add links to some discussions about what happened at Massada.
Herod's palace is visible at the north tip as three steps down from the plateau. We stood at the top level and took our group pictures from there.
We could have spent three hours exploring Massada, but we had a full day planned. The younger members of the group will have more chances to come back and explore.
