On all days we recite the first two blessings:

Baruch Atah Adonai Eloheinu Melech haOlam Asher Kidshanu beMitzvotav veTzivanu l'Hadlik Ner Shel Chanukkah.
Blessed art Thou Adonai Our God, Sovereign of all space and time, who
made us unique by Your directives and directed us to light the Chanukkah
candles.

Baruch Atah Adonai Eloheinu Melech haOlam she'Asa Nissim la'Avoteinu baYamim ha'Hem baZeman haZeh.
Blessed art Thou Adonai Our God, Sovereign of all space and time, who has done fabulous deeds for our ancestors in those days at this time of year.
On the first day only we recite this special blessing:

Baruch Atah Adonai Eloheinu Melech haOlam sheHecheyanu veKiyimanu veHigiyanu laZeman haZeh.
Blessed art Thou Adonai Our God, Sovereign of all space and time, who
has kept us alive, sustained us and enabled us to reach this joyous occasion.
Put your Chanukkiah in a safe place, prefereably visible by the public (near a front window) and light the candles in the sequence illustrated here.
Enter the candles from right-to-left as you face them and light them from left to right (the newest candle first).

Why do we increase the candles when it appears that the amount of oil would have decreased over the days?
